For the past two seasons I have taken ski conditioning classes at The Aspen Club and I’ve never looked back. Yes, you work incredibly hard for 90 mins. straight and at times you are in so much pain you can’t even stand it; however it all pays off the moment you step on the hill on opening day.
I’ve never claimed to be the best skier on the mountain but I definitely feel stronger than ever on everything from groomers to hiking the bowl. Where I get my joy on the hill is trying to keep up all the ripping ladies I ski with – oh and the boys too - and to be able to ski bell to bell on a powder day or really any day for that matter. Ski conditioning has helped me accomplish these goals. Many of the motions in class will prepare your legs for a long season of skiing strong.
A few other things to know about ski conditioning…
-Don’t be intimated: Each person works at their own pace and the age range is everyone from their 20s – 60s, maybe even 70s.
-It’s fun: Trainers make the class exciting, upbeat and keep you engaged the entire time.
-Meet great people: Everyone gets to know each other and you have a chance to catch up with old friends or make new ones.
Finally, if you commit to this class, you will probably be in the best shape you’ve been in all year, hands down. Hope to see you there! See our fitness schedule for a full list of classes.
